The decorations, which, consisted of greenery, flags,.- ' . k coloured lights and gen tieryen „pf < the Air Force,- all. yeepbin— . •.. ed to'give the "ballroom" a very gay appearance, and had - „ ,the desirable effect of W king one feel .romantic — well, : , it was partly'the decorations,. anyway.' /■■.;.' The fairer sex. were unfortunately in the minority, and. • when the band, struck up there was always a terrific dash , ■- down the floor, for partners, The limit men .were' rather unfair/in that they rarely gave the back'markers:-a chance. .. to get through .the rails. .Our P.T. instructor’s .eyes.. ■ . .almost popped, out of his head at the sight of . the ( C.Of. and. .the Works Officer giving a gymnastic display during the '■ polka and Polonaise, _ v ’ , ' • - . h v The duties .of M.C. (paster Cook)- Wi’C in. the .capable... •hands of "Happy"' -i£rrv ("Beautiful, boy, beautiful.’") and; . he 'carried out the job very well- indeed, even if he did . talk even a little more then usual. Such jovial, remarks ~ /as "Clear the floor, boys, and. make room for ,Mr. Palmer.*'?._ ■ might have sodded better "sotto voce" but; certainly,-kept ■ the lads amused. <‘ . ’ '' '. • - .. ■ ‘ ' - Excellently arranged by yrs.. 'Carr, the supper 'left nothing to be desired. Those' personnel who missed out. on. a number .of dances' had tb«ir revenge at suppertine. Opp-' . ortunity knocks but once, they said, and. in they went, boots and all, -/ ’ . , ' '.’ > , The orchestra, .or w.iom so much- of the success of a'dance •depends, did their job remarkably well. - / Strangely, enough, ■ .it- remained completely sober throughout the evening. . . Very . strange, that, for. an orchestra. / And, finally,-.a little praise for the energetic , comm- ; . ittee — the team behind the scenes. . They have the satisfaction of 'knowing that - the work they put. ; in tp.ensure: - the success of the dance was r ore than justified in the , ; enjoyable evening that resulted, and -was greatly-apprec-iated by all those -present. ; . - • s ' .'1
