HOBBIES CLUB.
Since the close of the festive < seasons activity in the Club has ,naturally not been so great. This has been so particularly during the fine weather, when the call of the sea has drawn many members away from the workshop. The granting of immediate membership to all those wishing to join has not caused any overcrowding up till the present time. The strength of the Club is over the fifty mark and includes personnel of all ranks and drawn from all sections on the Station, The prospect of more balmy days at the beach has given a stimulus to the ancient art of building something that will float - at times the Club has resembled a ship-yard. One member invented a wood steaming device, which contraption looked like nothing on- earth - with the exception of a bazooka gun, A mild degree of ; consternation was caused until its use became more generally known. Tore material and equipment have been obtained from Nev; Zealand, and the Club is now in a strong position as regards both of these items. At the same time, it is felt that only a very small minority of members are pulling their weight in helping to manage the Club, the majority merely making a convenience of the amenities. However, as the summer passes and shorter daylight hours arrive once again, activity in the workshop ' is certain to increase, and no doubt more interest will be taken by members in the Club’s administration.
