EDITORIAL
. ’’DUFFY’S GEN” has sired an off-spring* Or at least your paper has some claims to its paternity* The first issue of "Coral Dust", Green Island scandal sheet, has come into our paternal hands* F/O Sam Meads, former Education Officer at Norfolk and now stationed at Green Island, was evidently inspired by early copies of the ”Gen” - we suspect him of being midwifec To our Northern contemporary we extend our congratulations upon an excellent first number, and to its readers our best wishes* The "Gen", however, is staggering a little, and the cause of it has nothing to do with paternity. Two of your Editors are heading for home in the near future, and the third finds the pressure of other work too great* Briefly, unless people who are willing to edit the ”Gen” for a while come forward, your paper has had it* Editing means a lot of hard work and a lot of time, for it involves not only gathering material, writing it, and re-writing notes handed in, but also "running-off” - the actual printing of the paper* Assistance has already been volunteered on the typing and printing side, so the main need at present is a few people with the time, willingness and capability to edit the paper* Don’t let the word "capab- 5 ility 1 frighten you - what the present Editors know now they have learned j since the first issue came out* That’s the grata - what’s the story ?
