Recipe for Plonk
3 pints triple distilled wood spirit. 6 pints of snakes’ blood (N.B. the snakes must be the most venomous available. > 7 1 quart lacquer remover. 1 pint purified vitriol. 4 gallons of liquid left after tripe is .pickled. 2 pints of molten tin—Army rum to taste. / • METHOD ' Reinforce a 4 gal. water can by surrounding it with a covering of 12 m/m armour plate and equipping it with shock absorbers. Pour in the ingredients very slowly. Strict observance of this is necessary to prevent the liquid flying into the eyes. Bury at least 4ft. deep to minimise the effect of any explosion and leave for six weeks. TESTING After six weeks, dig the can up and pour the plonk (again very slowly) into an open vessel. Drop in a 31b. lump of pig iron and stand clear. If the iron floats the plonk is too weak. If
it dissolves the plonk is too strong, if the iron jumps to a height of approx. 4£t. you have made a good brew.
TO DRINK
A suitable receptacle, such as, an asbestos lined shell case, should be used. Adjust: your shock absorbers (which should be carefully tested), place a clothes peg firmly over the nose, close both eyes, hold the breath and go to it. The resulting vibrations of the' body rarely result in serious damage, except to fragile articles within a radius of 15 feet. .
