FINE AIR FORCE EFFORT

£33 5 for Patriotic Fund As a result of the fair and dance conducted by the Hobsonville branch of the Air Force Relations organisation recently, the Patriotic Fund will benefit to the extent of £335, less expenses. During the course of the function, which was highly successful from every point of view, the president of the branch, Mrs. E. M. Burrell, took the opportunity of thanking the willing band of women who are sting in the knitting of comforts for men on the Hobsonville station and those who have gone from there overseas, and also of expressing her high appreciation of the assistance given by the ladies of the station, who had worked so assiduously to make the fair and dance a success. She also • acknowledged the generosity of city business firms in donating gifts for disposal at the fair, and the assistance of women members of the National Service Movement, who had gone to the station on Tuesday to mind the children of wives helping at the fair. Appreciation of Mrs. Burrell’s own efforts was shown by Lieutenant (A) E. W. Sykes, R.N., on behalf of the men on the station, presenting her with a beautiful bouquet. During the course of the function the opportunity was also taken to make a presentation to Warrant-officer W. C. F. Temm, who had worked untiringly in assisting the organisers of the fair and dance.
