WELLINGTON TROTS.

’Excellent Acceptances. SATURDAY’S MEETING. The Wellington Trotting Club has received excellent acceptances for its ‘ meeting on Saturday, which will start the light harness season in the southern half of the North Island. Among the horses engaged are a number from Auckland, who give promise of affording stout opposition to those from Canterbury stables. In pursuance of its policy of steadily improving the course amenities, a new ladies’ cloakroom has been provided, and the main, bar under the members’ stand has been substantially enlarged. The rain which has fallen during the past few days has softened up the track, which, however, recovers quickly under the influence of wind and sun. Provided that fine weather is experienced from now on the course should be in good, though not fast, order by the time racing begins on' Saturday.
