FIRST ANNUAL SMOKO.
6th DRAFT, T.F.S.R., FORT * . ’ DORSET. Saturday, July 13th, 1940, marked the end of the first year in camp of the 6th Draft. To celebrate the oci casion a dinner and smoko were ari ranged for the members of this draft by Bdr. Mantell and L/Bdr. Malone. The.-enjoyable dinner was partaken of at the Ritz Cafe after which those present adjourned to the Legion of Frontiersmen’s Hall, where ample refreshments for a pleasant evening j were set out. Fifty members formed the original draft and of these the following were able to be present:—lnstructors: S/Sgt. Autridge, R.N.Z.A., and Sgt. Foster, R.N.Z.A.; Bdrs. Mantell, Walker and Priest,.L/Bdrs. Kronast, Malone and Jones, Gnrs. Karlson, Lockyer, Jamerson, Tildersley, Edgcomb, Coffey, Hughes, Reid, Smith, Bryne, Mitchell and Gregory. / The remainder are now well scattered, some having -transferred to other units, some to Trentham and Papakura Camps, while others are with the 2nd Echelon. A further smoko is to be arranged for next year and all remaining members are urged to keep in touch with Bdr. Mantell at Palmer Head, before July 13th, 1941. (Contributed by L/Bdr. K. K. Jones)
