You Can’t Live Without Laughter

What could the world do without laughterhappy laughter? There are Scrooges about who never laugh at all. Life is • & such a grim business- for then}, poor things. • ; ■ They are always afraidgenerally afraid they will lose their money. So they keep their money, and perhaps yours too; but they get no pleasure from it, for fear becomes a habit which hardens their arteries and ruins their digestions. They have tummyaches till they have a strokeand serve them right! It’s laughter that stops the arteries hardeningin honest fact, it does just that. It makes you live longer, because your blood pressure stays normal and your arteries remain elastic. Every laugh adds a day to your lifeproviding it’s a happy laugh. Because there ARE other laughs. 'There are cruel laughs, at other people’s misfortunes. There are cynical laughs, full of contempt. There are uneasy laughs, with a fear -of being overheard, at questionable jokes. The happy laugh is quite different, totally care-free. It shakes you up and shakes you down till all your system has been rattled by laughter, and softened by tears into perfect order. Laugh and be happy and care-free.
