The houj is just reveille and , It’s feet upon the floor, For the Sarg. is on the warpath And we’ve done fatigues before. So it’s brasso, spit and polish And it’s blankets folded neat, And shiny, glowing, buttons And well blacked polished feet. With nicely blancoed webbing And towels all neatly spread, For we must learn to fight these Nazis ’ Or we’ll very soon be dead. Those square-head dupes amuse me, With their lousy little .feet, For how can nations win a war, With badly blackened feet. So it‘s flat out with , the Nugget And it’s flat out with the broom, And it’s pick up all those matches For we’re fighting Hitler soon. And when we meet "these silly fighters How they’ll stare in dumb afright, When we point out .rather scornfully That their Webb gear’s not on right! * I know they’ve taken Poland And I know they’ve taken France, But we’re overlooking nothing, We’re loosing not a chance.. So it’s see your hat’s not crooked, And it’s see your deeds are so For very soon you’re going Where all good soldiers go. And sometime if you’ve time -to spare s With nothing much to do, Pop onto the parade ground And try a turn or two. * Or if you’re feeling weary But ever keen to beat the Huns Just spend an hour upon your beds Examining your guns. But brasso’s most essential While one stop two’s just rot So it’s flat out with the polish And use the time you’ve got.
