Warkworth, Cradle Koll l'arty, October. Mrs Moore (N ice President), presided, in the absence oi Mrs Nelson who was recuperating atter an o|»eration. Mrs Moore welcomed all present, including 16 mothers and 30-40 children. Following the opening hymn, “When mothers of Salem’’, the Rev. (i. Trrbilco conducted devotion*.. Mrs Moorsc organised games and stories for the children, and other members provided competitions and items. Seven new babies and children enrolled, bringing our total to 63. A bounteous afternoon tea was served and prayer closed the meeting. Remuera, October. The meeting was held at the home ot Mrs Robinson and a very pleasant afternoon was s|>ent. Mrs Kelsey presided. Members recited the ?3rd Psalm from memory and most of the members prayed. Mrs Procter gave a most interesting rel>ort of the District Convention. A visitor joined in the discussions and ho|.es to join our Union in the New Year. Atter business was dealt w’.ib the inerting closed with prayer.

Takapuna, October. Mrs l’russing presided and devotions were taken by Mrs Kelsey. A donation of 30/- sent to New Plymouth Seamen's Rest. Mrs Leman District Convention delegate. Guest shaker was Mr F.. Roberts, a member of the Licensing Commission. He reviewed the year's work, which ap(>eared to have served the country well. One ot their duties is to he satisfied that the drinking facilities, etc., are maintained at a high standard. A number ot questions were answered by Mr Roberts and they related to problems that arose from the effects of the liquor trade.

Tauranga, October. Mrs F. Christian presided and devotions were conducted by Mrs Woolford. Mrs Ryan, President of Napier Union, was welcomed anil spoke briefly. Rev. Mr Findlay spoke on gambling and drinking and the Christian life. We must punier over the meaning and pur|>ose of life and the effects of gambling and drinking, both of which give only a false stimulation ior a time. They never bring out the best in i*eople.

Riccarion, October. Mrs F. bnuth (Vice Pres.) presided. Mrs D. Buggy opened with devotions, her theme being. “The healing of the Le|«ers”. Invitations received to attend Opawa Union’s Birthday and to the Mothers’ Union. Mus M. Titheridge showed slides and spoke on the Leper Colony in Nepal, and Mrs Smith expressed thauks for her very interesting talk. Miss Titheridge closed with prayer.

Bryndwr, October. Mrs Langhlm opened with devotions, based on Matt. 10. Replies to protest re liquor licences at International Airports received. Mrs t’ugb reported on the Out* in the six Sunday Schools we coutacled. 75 entrants -at and 33 gained prizes. Mrs H. Griffiths congratulated the Union on its work. All annual reports showed progress. Mrs 11. Griffiths gave a short interesting talk on sharing oui light «»nd read Samuel Chadwick’s address on “The ciipple at the Gate”, concluding with a jxiem, “What is in Thy Hand?” Flection of officers: Pres., Mrs L. Kelly; V. Pres., Mr> Norton; Sec., Mrs E. R. Clark; Treas. and W.R. Agent, Mrs Payne; Devotional Supt., Mrs Langhlm; C.R., Mrs F. Bell. New Plymouth, October., with Mrs Atkins (Pres.) in the chair. Devotions taken by Mrs Powell. Two new members received. Annual report were very satisfactory. In December, Mrs Tuffery completes forty-six years of hospital sick visiting. Mrs Moeller, the efficient caretaker of the W.C.T.U. Seamen’s Rest was thanked for faithful service. During the year 4,562 seamen have visited the Rest and their contributions in the box are appreciated. The Rest has been repaired and repainted outside and a new porch added. The public and many firms, the Harbour Board, the McKenzie Trust (£SO) and our Temperance Unions have helped us financially. All union officers re-elected. Seamen’s Rest: Pres., Mrs Atkins; Sec., Mrs Williams, Treas., Mrs ( ole Waimate, October. Mrs Duckett presided and led devotions. Prayer by Mrs Hoare. Sympathy passed to the family of the late Mrs M. Simpson, a valued member, and to -Mrs J. S. McKenzie in the loss of her husband. Letters of cheer to go to Mrs Mills in hospital, to Mrs Stark who has been ill, and to Miss Barber on her 92nd birthday. Ten juniors passed the Quiz with honours. Mrs G. Keen gave a comprehensive report of Timaru District Convention.
