MRS A. T. RICHARDS, J.P.
Tributes to Mrs C. Toomer It is with sincere regret that members of the Women’s Christian Temper?nee Union in New Zealand bid farewell to their Dominion President, Mrs C. Toomer of Nelson, who retired from office at the recent Dominion Convention held in Palmerston North. She had beer. Dominion President for 7 years, prior to which she had been Vice President for two years and Corresponding Secretary for two years. Mrs Toomer leaves the Dominion work after serving most lovingly and sincerely and with great understanding of the work, with its problems and difficulties. Shall we ever forget how’ wisely she answered from the platform, men in important office, if they tried to low’er our standards’ Directly, and fearlessly, but with pleasing manner, she rebuked or corrected them Mrs Toomer has held the position of local and District President in Nelson, and at present is president of the Nelson branch of the National Council of Women In the Stoke Methodist Circuit she is a most acceptable local preacher. The memories of her leadership in the Dominion work of the W.C.TU. will continue to encourage us all and we wish for her happy years of service for her Lord and Master in the Temperance Cause, and in the life of the church. In making a presentation on behalf of ihembers and officers of the Convention, Miss V. lackson thanked Mrs Toomer for loving, faithful service, and wished her God’s blessing in all her work in the years to come. MRS A. DELLOW Dominion Recording Secretary Mrs Dellow, of Nelson, our retiring recording secretary has given most kindlv and gracious service to our Dominion Union for the past five years. In 1952 she took over the Business Managership and for a year held the dual office. Her efficiency in the work as Manager helped to secure a credit balance at the end of her term of office. By nature, Mrs Dellow is retiring, but like manv such, is purposeful to dutv and the officers apd members owe a great deal to her persistent application in keening the records correct. Mrs Dellow’s friendly disposition has won for her the love and respect of' all those w’ith whom she has been in contact through her work At Dominion Convention she has alwavs made her part of the dailv schedule go along smoothly and this has been appreciated bv all. 1 Mrs Pitt made a presentation to Mrs Dellow’ from the officers and members of Convention and ished her God speed in the vears ahead.
