JUNE 14th-19th, 1956, BREMEN, GERMANY CONVENTION SPEECH CONTEST Each National Union will be allowed to enter one contestant in each of the two classes. Cl«t« A—Over 15 and under 21 years of age. Class 8.—21 to 40 years of age. The contest is open to members of the Union only, but in ( lass A entry is extended to young men associates. In l>oth classes age will be reckoned as at Ist June 1956. Subjects.—Each entrant will be required to make an original speech of his or her own composition, to take five minutes, based on one of the following subjects: Alcohol and the Home. The Danger in Drug*. Deceptive Liquor Advertisements. Alcohol and Road Safety. The Christian's Witness and Alcohol. Speeches may be made in either German or English. A monetary prize will be awarded in each class. All National l nions should try to secure an entrant in each class and unitedly show the effectiveness of short but carefully thought-out Temperance addresses, even when delivered by young people not essentially used to public speaking. SOMETHING TO YOUR ADVANTAGE National Officers and others knowing of members or other people interested in the aims of our Union, who will be in Europe about the time of the Convention, are asked to send to Mrs. H. C Heath, 62 Becmcad Avenue, London, 5.W.16, England, names, home and/or travel address, and other helpful details so that we may invite them to he there. Their attendance would lead to increased knowledge and would he especially valuable to distant Unions whose representation may otherwise be small or even impracticable.
