"Animal” Competition won by Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Heathcote rejiorted on Whangarei Convention. All present gave and received small gift. Mrs. Green and Mis. Hill Taylor appointed to visit and present a gift to Mrs. Jolly who, owing to ill-health, has had to resign from active service for a while. Before election, 2,300 leaflets distributed by members. Afternoon tea served. Auckland Dist. Executive Christmas Party. Mrs. A. T. Richards presided and Mrs. Kasper tor.k devotions. A ,io<xl programme was presented. The artists included Mesdames W. Osborne, A. Miller, A. Ojrha, vocal solos; Mrs. A. Davis, elocutionary items, and Mrs. R. Sardham. pianoforte soki«. The accompanists were Mrs. A. A. Haniblv and Mrs. Sardham. Mrs. Mitnro also present after serious illness. Mrs. Clarkson, just returned from tour of Britain and Continent, gave most interesting descriptive talk. Large Christmas bonbons of flowers presented to Mrs. Christian, Mrs. Munro and Mrs. Maunder. Mrs. Clarkson and Mrs. Kent shoulder sprays. An appreciation of the protest re Brent’s was sent to Miss McLav. In Tauranga and The Mount over £3 worth of roll literature distributed. New Plymouth Social Work. Mrs. Tuffery, during her 40 years of W.C.T.U. work has served as Evangelistic Supt. for 25 years; Maori work, including S.S. and Church service's, for 13 years; and 23 years on Seamen’s Rest Committee. A very wonderful record of which the W.C.T.U. is justly proud. During 1954, hospital and Rangimarie Home for Aged visited by her. Gifts of biscuits, fruit, etc., also books given to

sick and lonelv. Aged iieopb*, unable to get out, visited fortnightly with gifts. New Plymouth Seamen’s Rest Christmas Party. Men of the "Empire Star" w’ere guests of the Rest Committee at Christmas time. Items were rendered by Mesdames Sinioti> and Simmons and Mr. Ray Cocker, while Mr. Gordon Smith brought equipment and snowed beautiful N.Z. travel films and the Ascension. These were much appreciated. Christinas carols were enjoyed and after supper, gifts were distributed to the men. The evening closed with singing of Auld Lang Syne. Levin, 17th Nov. Concluding meeting for year, with good attendance. Year’s work reviewed and members urged to press on in spi»e of disappointing vote at Poll. Mrs. A. C Krnnerley. Marlborough. District social when Quiz entrants and their parents and friends were entertained at a social. A programme of competitions, games and items by the children enjoyed. The prizes were presented, 1 first and 11 second having been awarded. Prizes were given by the District Excutive to 31 children who gained over 70 |<er cent, but did not secure a Dominion prize. Two members transferred from Blenheim. Mrs. E. Leslie conducted devotions. Reports given by Secretary, W.R. and C.R. Supts. Discussion on results of Licensing Poll and brief address by President (retiring). New officers are: Pres., Mrs. McDougall; Sec., Mrs. E. Treas., Mrs. J. Herd. Mrs. Underhill expressed thanks to Mrs. McDougall for her work as Sec.-Tre? % and for all their co-o|»eration. Thanks to retiring President and good wishes for coming trip to England in April. Nelson held a Christmas Party for hnal meeting. Two amusing sketches were given by Mrs. E. Devanny and Mrs. E. Wilson. A humorous reading was given bv Mrs. N. Blincoe and entertaining items by Mesdames Rankin and Tootner. Solos by Mrs. McCallum and Ruth Rankin most acceptably sung. Sprays presented to artists and officers. Prizes were awarded for most t>oiiits for the year: Best flower, ’, Mrs. McLean; 2, Mrs. H. M. Hill and Miss Holdaway. Best hand-made article, Mrs. Seal. Greatest number of names added to C.R. by 1, Mrs. S. S. Haase; 2, Mrs. Gallagher. Mrs. Rankin, President, sj»oke of Christmas as a Christian festival. Afternoon tea was served and carols sung. North Canterbury Dst. Executive. Mrs. Griffiths presided and was appointed to attend Dominion Conv. Miss E. M. Gaiusford presented with a posv and congratulated on honour conferred bv the Baptist Church. Remits re growing and use of grapes for Dominion Conv. sent on. Christchurch, November. Mrs. H. A. Hunt presided. Temperance fact given by Miss Howarth. Mrs. G. B. Nicholls warmly welcomed. Mrs. T. Day appointed to trusteeship, as Miss M. B. Lovell-Smith has resigned owing to ill-health. Resolution carried asking for more attention to table grapes and the use of grape.* in non-alcoholic wines.

Timaru, Nov. Mrs. Smith presided and took devotions. Reports of N.C.W. and C. of Christian Education given by representatives. Thanks received from Maori Hostel for donation. Christmas cards being sent to all elderly members. Sympathy expressed to Mrs. Dellow and Rone in their bereavements. Mr. G. Sole ill speaking urged us to keep up the aims of our organisation before us. Rev. Kenward spoke on exi>eriences as a Chaplain to 18 year-olds in Burnham Camp.
