Auckland District Executive, sth May. Mrs. A. T. Richards, Vice-President, took the chair in the absence through illness of Mrs. Mount joy, District President. Devotions were led by Mrs. Richards. It was decided to assist in the Merchant Navy Street Appeal. Mrs. Knauf reported on the work of the Maori Girls’ Hostel, and this was most satisfactory. Marlborough District Executive held a very well attended meeting to discuss financial matters for 1953 Convention. Application to be made to Borough Council to hold a “Shop *Day.” Springlanda, April. Ten members attended Picton meeting as a combined meeting. Mrs. MiUen presided and led devotions. Mrs. Flood, the delegate for both Unions, gave a comprehensive and interesting report of the New Plymouth Convention. Solo by Mrs. Fyles and several Springlands members sang “Ivory Palaces.’’

Mrs. Adkins gave a very thought-stimulating talk on Peace at the May meeting. District Executive suggests reforming Bands of Ho|»e. All day of prayer for Peace to be held on May 28th. Mrs. Hecc given a small gift on the eve of her departure for England. Mental Hospital patients visited and cheered by small giits. Riccarton. Mrs. Newth presided over a good attendance. Miss Hughes led devotions. Arrangements made for social afternoon in June. Members asked to attend Mr. Milner’s meeting. Pyramid leaflets given out to raise funds. Dominion yuiz papers distributed. Major Simpson spoke on “Peace” for Peace month. Executive report given, letters of love and sympathy sent. Oamaru, May. Mothers* Evening held on May 12th. when Mrs. Daniel, President, welcomed representatives from various organisations. A white flower presented to all on arrival. Mrs. Toomer sent greetings. Mrs. Daniel sjioke of the Temperance (Juiz and the interest this year. Also the |»opular Supplement Painting Conijietition. Last year our Union awarded 44 prizes. (Well done, Oamaru!) Several men friends are giving Temi’erance talks to Sunday Schools. Mrs. Hiett gave a most interesting talk on different departments ol our work, with particular mention of the part mothers can take in Christian education ol their children. Musical items enjoyed. Three new members gamed and two "White Ribbon” subscribers. Visitors given copies of “White Ribbon.” Supi>er concluded happy, successful gathering. Benediction by Mrs. Hiett. Dunedin South. May 28th. Mrs. F. Jones presided over large attendance of members. Visitors, including the District President, Mrs. Hiett, welcomed from all the Unions in District. Mrs. Dewar conducted the devotions. Mrs. Captain McCallum was the sjieaker and gave a Mother’s Day address on font* women from the Bible— Rebekah, Hagar, Hannah, and Mary.
