Auckland District Executive, Ist Oct. Mrs. Mountjov presided ami the devotions were conducted by Mrs. Anstice. An invitation was extended to all members to attend a fuuction at the Hostel on the 3rd Oct. to celebrate the imjKirtant occasion—the paying-off of the Hostel, tlius making it the freehold property of the Auckland District W.C.T.U. The Public Trustee notibed the leaving ot a legacy by an Auckland gentleman to the N.Z. W.C.T.U. Ketmrt*- of the treent District Convention, the N.U.W. and the Maori Hostel *weie given. Mrs. A. T. Richards, the newly-elected VicePresident, was warmly welcomed by Mis. Moutitjny.

Napier, September. An evening meeting with a good attendance. Miss M. Bradley conducted devotions. Mrs. PearCe welcomed as our new Secretary. Our Guest S|>eaker was a Salvation Army Cadet- a recent arrival from England, who thrilled and inspired us by her ex|»erieiices m London, in her work and visits in the slums. Mesdames Pearce and Ryan elected delegates to Dist. Conventions.

Suggested that Unions take a collection lor Pan-Pacific Conference funds. Unions asked to consider distributing copies of the Beacon to Bible Classes. Y.P. Supplement discussed.

Nelson, Aug. Pay up social. Mrs. Walker presided. Mr*. Encson took devotions. Mrs. Toomer reported * on N.Z. Alliance Annual Meeting. Mesdames Wilson and Maut

entertained with a humorous sketch and Mr< Toomer with two sok)*.. Flowers and best wishes for a speedy recovery sent to Mrs. Knapp, Senr. Sept 11th. Mrs. Walker presided and Captain Hatch led devotions and >|ioke of women’s work. Mrs. Rankin s|x>ke on health, dealing with the influence of fear in our lives. One new member initiated. On Sept. 12th Richmond and Nelson combined to visit Alexandra Home. Members entertained the old folks and provided a sumptuous afternoon tea. Posy presented to one inmate, a member of the Nelson Union. 'The Matron thanked the visitors tor their entertainment.

Sydenham, 6th Sept. Our President, .Mrs. Filer, occupied the chair and devotions were led by Mrs. Archer. Meeting took the form of a social afternoon with representative** of Church Guilds as our guests. All present enjoyed the splendid programme of elocitionary, vocal and pianoforte sokis kindly given by Mesdames Gee and Christiansen.

Mrs Edmonds presided over a good attendance, Mrs. Good land, taking the devotions, reading from Romans 11. “The Motor World," A.A. pajier said recently “The drug alcohol has no place in safe motoring.” Old linen and clothes were requested for Korea. Inmates m Mental Hospital visited and gifts given.

Riccarton. Cradle Roll Function. About 40 children were entertained by Miss Hughes’ pupils with pianoforte duets and elocutionary items. Mrs. Griffiths presided and read an article to the mothers, “A Day with a District Nurse in the Country,” while the children were served at a well-laden table, decorated with camellias and an iced birthday cake. On leaving, each child was given a gift, sweets and apples. Mrs. Henderson, a mother present, jiassed a vote of thanks to the W.C.T.U. members for a splendid gathering.

Oamaru, Sept. Uth. Mrs. Daniel presided at Spring meet mg. Representatives of Church Guilds and Women’s organisations welcomed. Dunedin Central. The President, Mrs. Hictt, presided and led devotions. Special prayer offered for His Majesty the King. Mrs. Andrews from l*ortobello gave ait address on Franchise Day and Scientific Temperance. Two duets w’err rendered by Mrs. (\ F. Clark and Mrs. Symonds Delegate* were appointed for the District Convention, at North East Valley, on Oct. 25th.
