BIBLE IN SCHOOLS DEPARTMENT.

Dear Sisters, — It is some time since we have had a talk together on our Bible in Schools activities, but I know that in your year’s programme of work you have not overlooked this very inipi rtant department. In these days of stress and strain, and for many terror and anxiety, vvliat can better help the younger generation (as well as the older) to face the realities of life and its daily challenge to courage, calmness and endurance than the knowledge that above all and behind ail is a Divine Guide who in His Word has repealed to us the meaning and purpose of life, and who alone * can give the power to live it victoriously and gloriously. The moral drift of the present time and the pressure of those detrimental influences which make such a bid for

first place in the lives of our young folk give food for serious thought and earnest prayer. Should we not make it our “burden” that they shall go out into the world j»ossessed >of those spiritual ideals which will enable them to create happiness for themselves and for others, and will develop that good citizenship of which the world stands so much in need ? Very thankfui indeed are we that at the present time the Bible has access to the young people of our public dav schools, and that the weekly Bible lesson and the daily opening service of worship have their place in the routine of the school child’s life. We are grateful, too, foT the devotion of all who are directly concerned in the carrying on of this great work and who seek no word of praise

or commendation foT the time and the laliour involved. For the sake of God and Home and Humanity and our love for “these little ones,’’ should w r e not continue to pray earnestly and to give our utmost support to the advancement of the cause of Bible in Schools*" Yours in the Master’s Service, MARY P\TERSON.
