PRESIDENT’S LETTER

I >ear Friends, A few days ago in Dunedin a lady lay dying. She was practically unc nscious, too tar away to take notice of her loved ones. All at once she began to sing a hymn which she had not sung for years. This is what she sang “There is a gate that stands ajar And through its portals gleaming A radiance from the Cross afar The Saviour’s love revealing, A depth of mercy; Can it be That gate was left ljar for me, For me, for me W as left ajar for me.” It was not many hours after, that 'he passed through the gate into her eftrnal Home. Thank God for that gate ajar. And thank God for the revelation of His love and mercy. Do you know the next verse of that old hymn ? That gate ajar stands free for all Who seek through it salvation i lie rich, the poor, the great and small Of every tribe and nation. May all who have lost loved ones find comfort in the assurance of the gate ajar. As we continue our work for God, lime and Humanity, let ns ever renumber that for every nation Christ died, that the gate should be ajar for all. Let no enmity in our hearts hinder us as we pray for salvation t come to every nation. And let u> rejoice that we arc counted worthy to lend a hand. Kve r y effort made to banish alcohol, to overcome the selfisli-tu-'S of gambling, to make straight and clean paths for the feet of little c Idren and to speak of the redeeinit love of Christ, is an effort to bring t day of peace and goodwill nearer. May we serve our Lord and our l ion faithfully until we enter through the irate ajar. Yours iu His glad service, JESSIE HIETT.
