PLANS OF WORK
Here is a list of suggestions for work which w-ere put forth in Convention. It is hoped that these will perhaps help Unions to think out and use other plans for themselves. What appeals to one member as workable may be impossible to another; what really counts is the choosing of some plan end then consistently using it.
1. The distribution of blotters t<» school children or perhaps T o others than children. 2. leaflet distribution by leaving one on a tram seat, window ledge or car step as you travel about.
2. Suggesting prize essay, subject—
“Safety First," to schools, especially where the Head may l*» unsympathetic to our work or have decided that no outside organisations shall have access to the scholars. “Safety First” is a non-controversial subject and one of great importance. The Road Code can l*e supplied to the scholars as material for their essays. 4. Little talks with mothers whom you may meet with their children in tram, train or street. A naby makes a conversation so easy to open! And a baby is surely such a nrong reason
for voting for addition! Whatever turn the chat may take, part friends, and who knows what guidance you mayhave been able to give. 5. Costing of leaflets at regular intervals with a brief personal note, which you need not sign, enclosed, to non-sympathisers. 6. A frequently changed poster by your back door; and as one officer suggested. “Don’t be too prompt in answering a knock Let whoever it is have time to read it." Some styles of leaflets are suitable also for this work. Paste them on the door or a nearby window-. Discuss them with the folk who see them. Call the regular callers’ attention when you change your material. Have suitable leaflets ready to give when you see a need.
