CONVENTION HYMN.
By M. G. Bihhy. Till* following hymn won 2nd piize a Convention. When space permit;; wo hope to publish song and music which won first prize. United Lord we pray to Thee And ask Thy gracious hand To strengthen us to fight the ill That mus our native hind. As in sweet Eden’s lovely bowers The trailing serjient came, So in New Zealand, drink and sin Shadows with death and shame. All that is grand in human kind Is lost in drink's dark tide. And little children stray and fall. The lambs for whom Christ died. Ixird, when mankind in darkness lay. The gracious promise came That woman's seed should conqui r sin And save from death and shame.
So now, () gracious Lord, behold A hand of women here; May we he strong to fif.ht the foe With love that conqui rs fear. Lord, Thou hast faceu the shamef cross Thy lost ones to restore; Help us, dear land, .o seek and save And love Thee more and more.
