Mt. ALBERT BRANCH. A most successful Garden Party was held for our Cradle Roll mothers at the residence of Mr and Mrs Glaister, Domain Road There was a large attendance. Sir G. Fowlds opened the afternoon with a stirring Temperance address. The kindergarten children gave several folk dances on the lawn. There were also several side-shows. Mr? Kasper returm»d thanks to Mt, Albert branch, and specially to Mrs Glaister for use of her beautiful garden. TEMUKA CRADLE GATHERING. April 19. Annual Cradle Roll afternoon at Mrs Elder’s home. A nice crowd of mothers and children present. An interesting talk to the mothers was given by Adjutant Brown, and a solo by Mrs Brown was much enjoyed. Recitations by Mu Douglas and Mrs Smith. Afternoon tea served, and each child given a packet of sweets ajid an apple. Much credit is due to Mrs Reid, our Cradle Roll Superintendent, and thanks to our hostess. a Birthday party. Canvastown Union held its eighth birthday party on the 21st day of April. A splendid attendance, Rai Valley and Havelock Branches tieing represented Mrs Wm. Murray presided. Mrs Williams gave a report on the Jubilee Convention, and received a very hearty vote of thanks. Mrs Flower read a condensed report, extending over the eight years of the Branch’s existence, which showed that the Brunch had justified its existence, and was still very much alive. Mrs Ik'ov gave an address, which was greatly appreciated by all,, and Mrs Murray thanked Mrs Leov for help given throughout the eight years. A lieautifol birthday cake, adorned with bows of white ribbon and eight candies, was cut by Mrs Speeches by Mrs Murray, Mrs Leov, and Rev. A. T. Milgrew during tea. The Canvastown Branch is indebted to several gentlemen, Mr C. Corbett, of Deep Creek, Mr Glyn Flower. Mr Walter Mown, ami Rev. A. T. Milgrew for the conveyance of members and visitors to her birthday party, and through them the afternoon was such a successful and well-attended function.

MRS NORRIE WRITES: The Sailors’ Rest was u very busy place on Sunday. There were three overseas liners in port, and about 30 seamen were entertained at tea. The tables were well supplied witli refreshments, provided by members of the ' nion and Mrs Woodward. The Mayor and Mayoress were present. The Mayor gave the men a very homely welcome, and expressed his pleasure at being present with them. Mrs Dick, of the Salvation Army, gave a short and helpful address to the men. also Mrs Norrie, after which the evening was spent in singing hymns, and several solos, etc. NORTH BRIGHTON GARDEN PARTY. April 17. Splendid attendance at Mrs L. Pepperell's. Mrs A. Florence presided. Mrs Claridge gave a most comprehensive report of the Jubilee Convention, and received a very hearty vote of thanks. Decided to hold the birthday celebrations on May 15th at 7.30 p.m. Commit iee to arrange: Mesdames Peppered, Aston. Goldman, Mitchell, Scott, Clarke and MftluuL Mi J. H. Coates, who recently celebrated her golden wedding, was presented with a wicker chair, anti congratulated upon the attainment of their golden wedding anniveisary. Mrs Felton presented the guest of honour with a charming bouquet. Mrs Coates thanked the members for their kindness and good wishes expressed. Afternoon tea was serve a under ih a trees.
