LITERATURE DEPARTMENT.
316 Karori Road, Wgtn, W. 3. May 7, 1934. My Pear Friends, — 1 suppose in all the Unions we are thinking over the Jubilee Convention and wondering how' we can l>est make use of what happened there. Good resolutions have l>een the order of the day for all who were privileged to be there, 1 am sure, I am writing al>out the part of our work in which I am most directly interested. It is vitally important to our holding our own, and to our preparedness for a coming struggle that we he well-informed ami intelligently interested in the history and scope of our movement. I recommend to all Unions increased use of and interest in our Literature and our Library. It is an excellent plan to devote at least one meeting each year to u good historical or scientific book on the Temperance movement, studied and handed on to the local Union by one of your own members. Each Union should have a Library Catalogue, and I shall be delighted to suggest good books from that catalogue. For books from the Library, address W.C.T.U. Librarian. 46 Brougham Street. Wellington. Then as to literature, I would urge all Unions to make use of the fine stock of leaflets, i*>sters, etc., on our shelves at Headquarters. If any advice or help is required in this connection, I am only too pleased to answer any letters at the above address. Orde’ s, with cash enclosed, go to Mrs Ross, 46 Brougham Stieet, Wellington. There is an important booklet which every W.C.T.U. member would do well to possess—the splend'd little Jubilee l>ooklet compiled by Mrs Peryman, "FUty Golden Years.” It is full of interesting matter and fine pictures, and would make a good study for one of the Union meetings. At sixpence n copy, it is a marvel of cheapness, and we hope quite soon to sell the remaining copies. Every copy sold, read, and either lent or given away will be a real worker for the cause we have at heart. Orders for the booklet. "Fifty Golden Years,” with cash and postage enclosed. go to Mrs Ross, 46 Brougham Street, Wellington. With every good wish, and an earnest desire to be of use. —I remain, Yours faithfully, CHARI/OTTE E. WOOD. Supt. of Literature Department.
