CRADLE ROLL PICNICS.
rONSONBY. March 1. Cradle Roll picnic. Al>out 70 present at Western Dark. After lieing welcomed by the President, a verse of a hymn was sung, a short prayer by Mrs Walker, and Mrs Kasper, District President, gave an interesting little talk. Miss Read recited, and the remainder of the afternoon was devoted to games for the children. Afternoon tea, fruit, and sweets were appreciated by all. Mrs Hodgkinson concluded the afternoon’s entertainment by presenting each child with a toy. Several new babies were added to the Roll, and one mother promised to become a member. TEMUKA. March 4. In the Domain. Mrs I >ouglas and Mrs Smart welcomed the mothers and children, and after the opening hymn and prayer, Rev. Brookes was called on to speak. His subject was, “A Mother as a Child’s Guide.” stressing the need of training the chi’d from all menaces. We must look at a child as God looks at it. Two children w’cre christened. After roll call, afternoon tea was served by a willing band of workers. The children were presented with a bag of nuts and sweets. Everyone enjoyed themselves on a lieautiful day. There is a membership of 123 on the Cradle Roil.
