LETTER FROM THE DOMINION PRESIDENT.
I>car Fellow-. Members, I would like to thank all of you who have sent me messages of sympathy and good-will on account of the illness which overtook me at Whangarei. ard sent me home in the middle of my tour, with half my wc V undone. There are so many ol these letters that I am ;ure you will excuse my not answering them individually, and will accept this as my thanks and appreciation of all v our kindness It is indeed a wonderful experience to And myself President of an organisation which numbers loving and sympathetic women all through its membership. It helps one to go on and on In spite of physical weakness and obstacles that almost put despair into one's very soul, and so again I thank you all. ELIZABETH B TAYLOR.
Dear Sisters a n«l all Temperance Friends. — The Election for Members of Parliament will almost certainly take place the first week In iVcemher. Many times I am asked, "What can we do to help In the cause of Prohibition. now that we are to have no Poll on the question?" My reply is-That there are most Important Issues at stake for this very election to settle. Now that the Statute I aw has In-en amended to postpone the Poll and give the drink traffic a longer lease of life, we may be sure that all will he done to return to Parliament men willing to give more and yet more concessions to this traffic. Nine years between the Polls, ft o’clot k closing; In place of 6 o’clock, removal of licenses, will all be aimed at and asked for. unless we are up and doing. Unless we see to it that the right men and women are returned men and women staunch to the cause we all love and stand for men and women loyal to
the hard-won victories of the past and to our demands for the future, the luire majority, a two-issue paper, and no more tampering with the triennial Poll. Our clear responsibility is to find out, in each Electorate, which are the candidates who will support our demands; then. If necessary, put all party issues on one side, and, fer this time at least, vote for those who will give us a clear Held, with no favours to the liquor traffic. While Ribboner*! Before God and for the sake of the Nation, the Race and the Home, this 4 s your plain, unmistakable duty! Do it now, and future vears will prove your wisdom. ELIZABETH B TAYLOR. Dominion President.
