BLACKBALL HONOURS ITS OLDEST MEMBER.
On Friday afternoon, January 10th, a most enjoyable function took place in the Blackball Presbyterian Church, when the members of the W.C.T.U. met to do honour to their oldest member, Mrs. E. Adam, who that day had attained the age of SO years. The Church was nicely decorated. The proceedings opened with community singing and prayer. Dainty alternoon tea was handed around amid song and story. Then the Vice-President, Mrs. Colquhoun. in a few appropriate words, invited Mrs. Adam (the guest of honour> to come forward and cut the beautiful Birthday Cake w'hich the members presented to her. Mrs. Adam was loudly cheered. Songs by Mrs. McNaughton, Mrs. Low**, Misses Simons, Anderson and Preckleton, and recitations hv Mrs. Colquhorii and Mrs. Anderson, wen* all nicely rendered. The gem of the afternoon was a recitation by Mrs. Adam, "My Bonnie Jean." On behalf of those present, Mrs. J. C. Sneddon (Secretary) presented Mrs. Adam with an envelope, remarking that small parcels were often more precious than large ones, and isking her to buy something needful with the contents. AH joined in wishing Mrs. Adam health and happiness in the funye. A happy afternoon w r as brought to a close by singing "For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow," and "God Bless You.”
