Since 11)08, legislation has been passed concerning women’s employment in serving alcohol as follows: — In Italy, young persons under 18, unless members of the publican's family, may not serve alcohol. In France, girls under 18 may not serve alcohol unless in their parent’s establishment. In Czechoslovakia, no woman in l’rogue, the capital, may serve on licensed premises. In Northern Ireland, no girl under 18 may serve alcohol. In Southern Ireland, no girl under 18 may serve alcohol unless in her parent’s establishment. In New Zealand, no woman may serve alcohol except those so employed before 1911. In the Staie of South Australia, no woman may serve alcohol except those so employed before 1908. In the State of New South Wales, Australia, no woman under 21 years may serve alcohol other than the wife or daughter of the license holder. In the State of Tasmania the law Is the same. In the State of Victoria, Australia, no woman may serve alcohol except those so employed before 1918. In the State of Western Australia no women under 18 may serve alcohol; a barmaid may not work more than eight hours a day; time worked beyond this must be paid for at overtime rate.
