SUPERINTENDENTS’ LETTERS.

GOOD CITIZENSHIP. Dear Comrades, Y'ou will remember that at last Convention the Prison and Reformatory Department was linked up with that of (rood Citizenship. As the Christmas season draws near, may its true spirit, that of “peace and goodwill toward men,” take possession of us all. At this time, especially, our thoughts and hearts go out to those who are less fortunately placed than we are —the inmates of our reformatories and prisons. Where possible, let our Unions organise in some way, either by social functions, letters and gifts, to provide some Christmas cheer and enjoyment for those within these institutions. I know some Unions are already engaged in this good work —all honour to them — and others could do the same. It is a department of our W.C.T.U. that provides a tine field of service at all times, and particularly, 1 think, at this time, when the spirit of Christmas renders hearts more susceptible to good impressions. I.et us hold out the helping hand and show to the inmates of our institutions that our Dominion W.C. T.U. takes an active and practical interest in their welfare. Not only at the, present time, but later on, when facing the world again, let us follow them with our practical sympathy, our letters, and our prayers. l>et us co-operate, wherever possible, with all organised agencies to secure better laws and improved conditions, which may be helpful in turning men and women away from wrong-doing to righteousness. With Christmas and New Year greetings to all, Yours in White Rilrfjon bonds, NELLIE HIJACK WELL, Dorn. Supt. Good Citizenship Dept. anti-gambling. Wi’l any Unions who have done work in this Department since last report, and who have not received questionna’res this year, please report to me not later than 31st December, 1929, to enable me to complete my Report by the end of January, 1930?—Yours in White Ribbon bonds, MARGARET PIRRETT. Supt. of Anti-Gambbng 13 Panama Street, Grey Lynn, Auckland.

Dear Sisters, — My auditor has expressed a desire that I close my financial year in December, as February is his own stocktaking, and it will suit him better to have my hooks before then. May I ask for all accounts to be settled by December 31st? There are some outstanding accounts from last year; kindly let me have the.se, without waiting for a reminder from me. It will save a little time when 1 am so busy. Trusting you are helping that Headquarters thermometer to rise more rapidly. No ship that was ev°r launched drifted into harbour. You have got to work to get it there. Wishing you all the compliments of the season. —Yours in service®, E. F. CHISHOLM. Berhampore, Wellinglon South.
