FOR SERVICE?
A word with the “Y’s.” while 1 828 is still with ns, to wish all the “Y’s." everywhere a very happy New Year and to remind you how much you an in our thoughts, and plans of work for the year ahead, for we are expecting great things from your votes in the days to come. We need not feel dismayed becatisi tin* liquor sellers were not voted out this year. We can well remember how in April of 1918, the Allies had to retreat in France, and how heavy our hearts were over the delay to end the war, yet. how quickly it ended with victory for the Alii*s about six months later. We do not need to retreat, but wo do need to reinforce and watch and pray. The fact that the liquor sellers are allowed to continue, is no proof that it is right that they should do so, but it is proof that they had money to mislead people about America, and to pay to the press sucli large sums of money for their advertisements, that the papers all over the country sided with their evil business which caused many people to vote as they did. Having very lately read Henry Ford’s book, “The Great To-day and the Greater Future,” one is reminded of the saying that England has Shakespeare, Ireland has St. Patrick, Scotland has Bobby Burns, but America has H**nrv Ford! His book will go a great way to deny the untruths about America. The Ford business provides work, directly and Indirectly, for more than six hundred thousand men, so supports almost the same number of people as New Zealand. and the men receive twenty-four shillings per day. Mr Henry Ford is
L orP than «i car maker; he plans for l„. well-being of his fellow men. He „vs, a business which dm** not give [o 4><l service to the public and good Llm* for their money, should not List. Now, does the liquor business Up good service? I \Ve must remember that Christ L mP to serve, and that we are here Lr service too, service to Cod and L| helovinl New Zealand, and it will L a great day when you “Y’s.” are to say we have swept out the liquor traffic, “Jehovah has triumph - p|. his people are free." Faithfully yours, J LEOV. Uni Valley, Lccmber 20th. !‘J2S.
