AUCKLAND. Jan. C. This meeting wan held in the Open Air at Point Erin Park. There wan a good attendance of membere and friends, about sixty being present. Two or three well-known hymns were sung, and verses of Scripture were reflated. Mrs Lee-Cow ie gave an interesting and instructive Temperance talk. Thereafter, Mr A. J. Stallworthy, Hon. Organiser. Auckland Band of Hope Union, showed some beautiful lantern slides, interspersed with strong appeals, especially to the young people, to avoid alcohol in every form. It was decided to hold another meeting in the Park in a fortnight’s time. The meeting closed with the singing of the Doxology and the Benediction. Jan. 20. Thereafter, a most interesting address was given l»y Mr (Jraham, a Missionary front India. Mr Graham told us that he bad been led to go out to India in entire dependence on God, as lie was too old to be accepted by any Missionary Society. He said his work was principally amongst the Anglo-Indians employed on the railways, and he told us how wonderfully fiod had supplied all his need, during his three years sojourn there. Miss Head proposed a cordial vote of thanks *o Mr Graham, and the meeting elosed with the singing of tl.*t Itoxology and the Benediction. Feb. 3. Mlm M. Pyle, who, with her Sister, had attended the U.S.A. National W.GLT.U. <’on\ention. held at lm >H|iH in September last, gave some interesting "Convention Echoes" She spoke of the wonderful spirit of enthusiasm which characterises the American women; the <-o----operatlon of the Civic Authorities in the welcome to anil the imtertairnient of the lb-legates, and showed photographs of the Reception of Delegates at the Railway Station, and of the personnel of the Convention. As New Zealand White llibboners, they were given a most enthusiastic welcome, and a seat of honour at the Speaker s table. Miss Pyle emphasised the gain of new members from March to September, which was 53.900. Our late Superintendent. Mrs Kasper, was cordially welcomed to the meeting on her return from a trip abroad. A hearty vote of thanks to Mil* Pyle was carried, ami the meeting closed with rrayer. PLEASANT POINT Jan. 17. The Opihi River, near Upper Waitohi, was the scene of a very happy gathering, when on Saturday, Bth of January, members of Totara Valley and Pleasant Point “Y." Unions held their Annual Picnic. The (lay was gloriously fine, and a very pleasant time was spent in games, bathing, and various starts. Lunch and tea was partaken of in a shady nook amongst the willows. OXFORD. Jan 7.
