GIRLS IN COURT.

Miss Kirk gave a most interesting account of our Magistrate's Courts, and told of the need there is for greater orivaev when young women aiv being tided. Many young girls do wrong, and get into the court. There they stand, and are viewed and marked by a crowd of men, not ot tin* most desirable character. Miss

Kirk save instances of low difficult it is for a young woman once convicted to make good. When they come out of the gaol, their old associates are on the watch to lure them back to evil. One case of a young woman imprisoned for stealing w r as pitiful. She had been influenced and used by older persohs. When she came out. some social workers got her a good home with a lady who knew her history. Before the girl had been an hour in the house her employer was rung up and told she had a gaol-bird there, and this occurred 16 times in the first two days. Cases such as these should warn young women against the first false step. It should also make us very pit if ul of our weaker sisters, and willing to do all we can to help them.
