DISTRICT EXECUTIVES.
NORTH CANTERBURY, February 3. Mrs T. K. Taylor presided over representative* from Christchurch, Lincoln, Springston, New Brighton. PUpanui, Oxford. Rangiom, Kiccarton, Sefiton, Kaiapoi, and Templeton. The Treasurer's financial statement was fully discussed, and considered satisfactory. The appointment of a Corresponding Secretary to keep in touch with men. Im*i\s and sympathisers in the outlying districts, was decided upon. Several copies of the “White Ribbon" to is* sent each month, in addition to personal correspondence. Miss B. Harband generously offered to take the position for three months. Remits on scientific temperance in st ruction in public schools, and the best method for interesting Unions in the subject of “Radical Temperance,’* were forwarded to tiie Dominion Convention for further consideration. Miss Henderson spoke for a short time on the entertaining of Convention in ('bruitchurch early in March, asking for the help and co-operation of the several (Jnion*. Before beginning the business of the morning, Mrs Taylor read the message from CJuy Helyer, I’resident of the World ITohibition Federation, whim ought to inspire and urge all on to more unselfish service and letter work in the future.
SOUTH CANTKRBURY. Ib*ccml>er 14. The attemkince showed an improvement on the former mce* ing. Mrs Hoag, the I’resident, occupied the chair. Votes of sympathy were passed with Mrs Norrie and Mrs Dili in their weak ness. As Mrs I k»n hail notified her intention not to stand this year for the position of Dominion I’resident, Mrs T. E. Taylor was unanimously nominated for that position. As some Unions were not represented at the meeting, those present undertook to write to the Secretaries of such Unions, giving them a report of the work done, anil urging them to send re presentatives to future meetings. As the funds of the l>istiiH Union are not in ;i flourishing condition. enHi Union was asked to make some special
effort, and those present were greatly encouraged by the gift of £3 from the Waimate Branch. Although Prohibition hail not been on ried, the members were very much encouraged by the results in a good many districts, and the President is ver> anxious indeed to see brunches formed in all the districts. Reports were handed in regarding Methven. C'hertsey, and Hendarvis. It was hoped that a branch would be formed after the holidays in the former place, and that the mothers of the children on the Cradle Rolls of the two lat ter districts would Is* linked up with Kakaiu Branch. Afternoon tea was handed round.
