WELLINGTON DISTRICT CONVENTION.

The 10th Annual Wellington District Convention w-us held at Ft -tiding, August 4th to 6th. The public meeting «ao held on Tues•lay evening, presided over by the Mayor of Keilding who welcomed Mrs Don, the speaker for the evening, and the delegates. The Hev. Miller also spoke words of welcome on behalf of the Ministers* Association. Mrs Don gave n most inspiring address, and made a most Impassioned appeal for votes for Prohibition, and workers to win votes at the next poll. Bouquets from the Feildtng t’nion were presented to Mrs T>on. Mrs I’erymnn. and Mrs Evans. In the most regrettable absence of Miss Kirk, President of the Wellington IHstrii't Union, Mrs Peryman was ask<*d to pn-side over the meeting, and as she had to leave on Thursday, Mrs Evans presided that day. There was a fine gathering of delegates. 25, besides visitors on Wednesday morning. Mrs Packe welcomed delegates, and presented a bouquet to Mrs Johnston Wright. l>evotlons conducted by Mrs Johnston Wright. Mrs Peryman. and Mrs Dewe. This gave details of the bent ways to reach far-back settlers, by drawing room meetings, literature, and specially

correspondence. Miss Heaton, a visitor from Dannevirke, spoke of the work which was done in the Hawke's Hay district by (W respond© nee. Resolution: "That each Union represented earnestly recommend their various Unions to attempt to reach the outlying districts by home meetings, literature, or correspondence.” Mrs Johnston Wright moved. Mrs Watson seconded, and It was carried: ‘•That a recommendation be s< nt to Annual Dominion Convention that District I’residents only hold office for one year unless under extreme need.” Officers appointed:—lTes., Mrs Kvans (acting); Sec., Miss Avison; Treaa., Mrs Anderson; Vice I*res„ Mrs Johnston Wright. Letters of sympathy to be sent to Mrs Whlncop, Mrs Every, Mrs Einmerson. No invitation received for next Convention; this matter left to Executive. Votes of thanks to Feilding Union, and to all who helped to make the Convention a success. Closed at 12.30 In usual way.
