SOUTHLAND DISTRICT EXECUTIVE.
The Southland Executive met at the Bluff on Friday, 13th February. Delegates from all the Invercargill Unions, and from Otautau were present. Mrs Garrett, gave a helpful paper on “Child Welfare,” and it was decided to have the paper added to the list for loan to branches. The Secretary reported that the Invercargill Borough Council were considering the plans for a rest room for women and children, and stated that al’ the Southland Unions would be asket to help in getting this much needed requirement established. The Treasurer, was instructed to purchase a silver spoon for the 1000th baby born in St. Helen’s, and a letter of congratulation to be sent to the Matron. Miss Earnshaw’s work in Southland was reported on, and all agreed that it had been most successfully carried out, and that she had indeed given of her best to the work. Various remits to the conference were passed. A message of sympathy with Mrs Donaldson, the Bluff President, was passed.
