ORGANISER'S REPORT.
Rear White Ribboners, — 1 cannoit quite remember where 1 left off in my last report, and us 1 have given away October number of the "White Ribbon," 1 cannot tind out. 1 think 1 was in the Ashburton district and on my wa> to Mayfield, where 1 spent about two days visiting among the women. An Executive meeting
was held and a number of new members gained. The Rev. and Mrs Beeson, with whom 1 stayed, made things very easy for me by driving mo round the district, and i am most grateful to them for their kindness.
From Mayfield I returned to Ashburton for a day or two. and then on to Totara Valley, in South Canterbury,
where about a week was spent. A Young People’s Branch was organ is d. The President of the Y.P. Branch at Totara Valley came to see me on the
train at Tiinaru. I was almost overwhelmed when she presented me. on Ik*half of the new branch, with a beauti fill bouquet of clematis, white li'ae, and lilies, tied with a white bow, and a card containing a very encouraging message. Never shall 1 forget the glory of that beautiful clematis, which trailed to the ground. The pure whiteness of the flowers seemed to show up the more amidst the grime and smoke of the train.
Again I was greatly indebted to my host, Mr Seaton for kindly assistance in placing his oar at my dirposal. It seemed a wonderful experience to have t< n days’ rest from the use of the cycle —the first of the kind in all my years of work and the easier means of transport proved to me how much less arduous the work would be were there
less physical strain such as is experienced in continually cycling over had roads and against strong winds, etc. My special thanks are given to my hostesses who have shown me such great kindness. From Totara Valley I c*une to Southland, and U*gan my work at Mataura, where the Union was resuscitated after much hard work, and a strong branch formed.
A Union was also formed at Wynd ham. Several days were spent with the Mdendale Union, and its membership considerably strengthened. From there I came to Invercargill.
where I enjoyed several days’ rest with Mrs Finlayson, Oteramika Hoad. i also attended a District Executive meet ing. Then I went to Tuatapere, and returning, visited Orepuki. Riverton, and Otautau Unions, and in each plate the membership was strengthened. At present 1 am in Lumsden, and intend visiting several of the outlying districts, 1 should like to congratulate the In vercargill District Union on the ar rangements made for me. A great deal of time and much anxiety was saved by their thoughtful preparation. A list of the places to be visited in tlie district was given me with the name of my hostess, and (where pos sihle) names of people in each place who were lik* ly to be interested in the work. I was able to w rite several days beforehand to my hostess at my next port of call, and no time was lost in seeking accommodation. I must close, wishing you all a very Happy Xmas and New Year m ssag* contained in 2 ('or. x 4. —Yours sin cerely, ALICE EARNSHAW.
