CHURCH AND THE LIQUOR TRADE.

When the Church took up amis against the Licensed Liquor Trade, many howls went up about the Church meddling in polities. Prohibition is not a political question; at its root it is a 'moral issue, and because* a thing morally wrong can never be economically right, or socially right, or politically right, it has come to be an economic, a soc ial, and a political question. The Church fought the Trade* in P.S.A.. and because an aggressive Church is a live* Church, it grows. No sign of Church decadence in C.S.A. Rend the*s« statistics compiled by the Federated Council of Churches in America. More* than a million people* became Church members in 'America last year. Every day during the past live years an nv« rage of 217.1 persons became Church members. The total Church membership shows an increase of more than four millions over the figure's of 1916. The*re is no dearth of young men offering for tin- ministry there. An average of l.f per day have joined the ministry during the past five years. When a Church ge*ts into the fight against a great national sin. then “Like a mighty army move* the Church of God.”
