Ido not look upon this as evidence of a want of Interest in the subject, hut rather as the result of lack of organisation in the department. On rm arrival in New Zealand at the eod of May. after two years' absence. I found I had been re-appointed Superintendent of thia Department. but owing to unsettled conditions and other circumstanc*a. some time *-lapsed licfore I could give any attention to the matter. All I hav«| been aide to do is to write two letters to the "White Ribbon’ with a few suggestions as to the lines of work which seerrvd to me the most Important at the time. | also sent postcards to most of the N Z. Pnions callIng their attention to the Disarmament CY»nference at Washington, and I have spoken at two or three I'nlon meetings, which I haw been able to attend Howfar my suggestion* have appeal#*| to rm fellow member* I have no means of Judging, but If 1 should be called upon to occupy this position in the coming year I trust we may be able to come Into closer touch, and work togeth* r as far as opportunity allows. Since writing my report. I have received the following: - "The Pet one Branch has not b*en very active in the Peace and Arbitration 1 apartment.
