DRESS.
Supt.: Miss Jessie Maekay. North-East Valley, Nelson, Ashburton, Wellington Central, Invercargill Y’s, Manaia, Hawera. Wanganui East. Auckland, Wellington District, and New Brighton report that all meetings are reported in the local pap* rs and in the “White Ribbon.” Ashburton reports that all resolutions are published in full in local paper, and a summary of the Union’s activities since she became I’resident in 1908 was given by Mrs Lill, and fully reported in the local papers; also the papers have printed several very helpful articles. Invercargill Y’s insert a local in the local papers when they have any item of special interest. Wanganui East reports that the “Chronicle" is very sympathetic, and inserts willingly any article relating to Prohibition, etc. Auckland and Nelson advertise their meetings. Auckland has a White Ribbon block at the head, which attracts attention to the advertisements. Advertising is expensive, but they find it pays to keep the W.C.T.U. before the public. Items of interest are also inserted in the Woman’s World in both local papers. Now Brighton reports also in the local column of the “Star” on Saturday evenings.
