SIXTEENTH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS AGAINST ALCOHOLISM, AT LAUSANNE, August 22-27, 1921.
Offices of the Congress: Avenue Road. Dapples, 5, Switzerland. LAUSANNE. January 21. 1921. The organisation of the Sixteenth International Congress Against Alcoholism at Lausanne is making rapid progress. The Congress has met with great sym pathy in Swiss official circles, which are willing to help it in every way. The President of the Swiss Confederation. Mr Schulthess, has kindly consented to serve as honorary president, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Mr Motta, and the Minister of Finances. Mr Musy, as honorary vice-presidents. The Executive Committee has been constituted from members of the local temperance societies, with Dr. R. Hercod its chairman, Pastor H. Daulte as vice-chairman, and Assistant J. Odernatt as secretary and treasurer. The*Committee is busy preparing the programme of the Congress. It has re quested the members of the permanent Committee of the International Congresses Against Alcoholism to send their suggestions concerning papers and speakers. The programme will he definitely arranged in a meeting of the Advisory Committee, which is to take place
at the Hague about the middle of March. It is proposed to limit the number ol papers in order to leave more time to discussion, and to have only papers which will bring something new and actual. Several international organisations intend to hold their meetings at Lausanne in connection with the Congress, the White Ribbon, the Neutral Order of Hood Templars, the Woild Prohibition Confederation, the Internata*'ul Federation for the Protection of Native Races. We invite cordially temperance work ers the world over to attend the Congress. Thej will meet at Lausanne with a modest hut hearty reception. THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
