NO INSURANCE FOR SALOON PROPERTY IN PA.
According to the “North American,” it was reported in the quarterly meeting of the Fnderwriters’ Association of the Middle Department, held at Atlantic fity. July 16. that “many fire insurance companies doing business in Philadelphia multiplied the woes of old John Barleycorn's adherents by declining to write fire risks upon saloon property as on July 1. Post-bellum prosperity was reflected in reports of unprecedented business. Manufacturers, retailers, and merchants generally are increasing their lines of fire protection to keep pace with the increused cost of all sorts of commodities.
