Supt.: Mrs Clara M. Neal. The following Unions purchased leaflets for general distribution: — Hawera, 0 18; Pakiri, 336; Aongatete, 180; Auckland, 108; Leigh. Sample Packets purchased by: Stratford. Hamilton Last, Hastings, Napier, Winchmore-Greenstreet, Hikurangi, Tuakau, Wellington Central. Leaflets pun based for Cradle Roll work by: Hamilton East, Lower Hutt, Pahiatua. Leaflets especially suitable for Cradle Roll work sent to Cradle Roll Superintendents of the following Unions: Hamilton East, Pakiri, Takapuna, Wanganui “Y’s,” Hiku rangi, Normanby, Wanganui East, Tuakau, Tauranga, Leigh, Aramoho “Y s Palmerston North. —The Superintendent prepared two papers, one on “The Effects of Alcohol on the Liver and Kidneys,” and the other on “Whs Mothers Should Abstain Wholly from Alcohol.” These were read at meet ings, and conics sem to Auxiliaries and to the Educational Bureau. The Superintendent has also given lessons
from the charts to Sunday School class, and to several L.T.L.’e, when a number of Boy Scouts were present. Napier has a member on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, who lias distributed to the doctor and members of the Board leaflets purchased from this department, showing the striking decrease in the use ol alcoholic liquors in various hospitals in America in the past two decades. Pahiatua has distributed leaflets at home meetings and put them in sailors’ Christmas comfort bags. Balance-Sheet Medical Temperance Department, 1917. RECEIPTS.
30 letters and parcels sent out by this Department during the year. 2,500 leaflets sold, and 1,400 leaflets distributed free to temperance workers, cradle roll superintendents, and at meetings.
