Dear sisters in the- work, Once again I have had my work interruptc-c through sickness, but being well 01 to recovery, I have been visiting the l aions in Otamatc-a district. As rip home is here, I have bee n able to worl all the- I nterns. in Otamatea itsel the* women arc* working splendidly and at their monthly meeting I secui ed two new members, and six met came- forward and took pledges. Tin is the first time in this place that met have shown any marked interest, -e now they arc* making every effort tc prevent liquor coming into the- s<ttle-nu-nt. At Oruawharo I found the state- of everything very satisfactory Everywhere one* sees the- little white ribbon in evidence, the* young people taking pride in being members. Before 1 left (iisborne I had attc-n i e*d all the- “Roopu’s” there, and wa to have- continued right up the coa-* to Opotiki, but was sent homeAuckland Hospital While- there, Mr Hughes, my Superintendent, and several of the Auckland I’nioi very kindly came to visit me. The other Onions m thi' district are vert hard at work rai'ing funds for 'in proving thc-ir meeting places, and have asked me if it was permissible foi them to have concerts and scm iaU :i aid of the- funds. 1 replied that thought it a geod idea, providing ••very thing wr.s c arried out in a quie and orderly way. I find that in tT.c-s ( districts, at any entertainments, it 1 invariably the* “pakc-ha' part of tin audience who introduce the liqu n Since- the- men have ente red in, we* an in hopes that all that will be* pu down. I will be- in Auckland abou November -:sth. when the- Synod wil be, and then hope to go once more further afield. Thank you all to: your kind support of the Maori work and let me convey thc-ir lu-artfel gratitude* to your geiH-rosity and sym path). FLORENCE WOODHKAD, Maori Organiser.
