ORGANISERS REPORT.
(’ambridge, 9th Nov., lull. 1 tear Sisters, Since writing my last report, I have visited the YVellingon district, i spent a couple of days at Johnsouville, the guest of Mrs lVryinau. Together we visited Wellington, and called on several members of the Union there, and found good work lining done. A sale of work was just under way to raise funds for campaign work. I also had the pleasure of being present at a medul contest held in connection with the Lower Hutt Union. The evening proved very enjoyable, and the young performers showed evidence of careful training. I think this department could be worked very successfully with most Unions, and am surprised to find that it is a department seldom taken up. From Wellington I journeyed back to Napier, to help that Union w ith its work in connection with the Hawke’s Hay A. and P. Show . Although this was the first big catering contract undertaken by this Union, the whole thing passed off most creditably, and the members are to be congratulated on the success of their venture. The Napier YV X.T.U. building is well on towards completion, and is a very handsome structure. From Napier I journeyed to Palmerston North, and from tnere visited Marten and Foxton. Marton l nion has had serious set-backs in the past, and now seems to be moving along very cautiously. W hile 1 was there Mrs barton visited the town, and also Mrs Mowleui, of Palmerston North. An afternoon meeting was and I think fresh enthusiasm has been aroused in that Union. Mrs Mowlem also accompanied me to Foxton,
but owing to contrary weather conditions the attendance was small. Levin had written offering help to canvas Foxton in conjunction with the local members. The otter was heartily accepted, and arrangements were made to take up the work immediately.
From Foxton I journeyed to Auckland, and immediately proceeded to Waiuku, where I had the pleasure of organising a very solid Union of twenty members. Some time previously, Mrs Harrison Lee Cowie visited this township, and took the names of eight women willing to have a\V C.T.U. in their midst. The idea was heartily taken up, some of the members having ridden and driven miles to fie present at the meeting. The Crusade and Cradle Roll departments were taken up. The follow ing officers elected : Presideut, Mrs W\ West: Secretary, Miss Etta Barritall: Treasurer, Miss Woodward ; Wiiitk Klimov Agent, Miss Hosking ; Press Reporter, Mrs Copeland. On my way from Waiuku I called on the President of the Pukekohe Union, ami am pleased to report this Union doing excellent work. Mrs Hiamires, President, assured me there was not an idle member on the Union, and judging from what 1 heard right through the district, there is every prospect of the Franklin electorate hoisting the flag of victory at the coming battle. At Hamilton, the Temperance work is just booming along. Our women there are working as if inspired, and in my next report I hope to be able to say their efforts have be‘»r. crowned with success. Next week 1 hope to organise at Te Kowhai. My address for the month is “ Belmont,” (’ambridge. Your for Service, Jean M< Nf.isu.
