Maori Work.
Lyttelton. —Hand of Hope meetings have been held during the year, and four new pledges taken. Literature has been left at every house in the pah frequently, which the Maoris seem very pleased to receive. We regret the removal of Mr and Mrs Lyon from the pah; they did good work and had an influence for good over the children. We propose giving our usual Christmas tree to the children, and are glad to report progress in the Hand of Hope. VII are anxious for the meetings. Mato pH. —During the year wo hr.ve welcomed Sisters Nellie and Julia Deaconesses to the Maoris in this district), to our various homes and to our W.C.T.U. meetings. We have supplied them with 100 pictorial Maori pledge cards and 100 leaflets by Dr. Doiuare for distribution, and have told them to let us know if at any time we can he of service to them in their work for our coloured sisters.
