1 here lias been great rejoicing by the temperance people of America over the news that President Taft at a late banquet turned his glass upside down and said he had taken his last drink.
< >n the heels of this comes the news that Kmperor William of Germany has become a teetotaller. He has pledged himself, it is said, to abstain from all alcoholic drinks for the remainder of his life. Ihe Kaiser has had a special drink concocted w hich has the color and fizz of champagne, hut which is absolutely nonalcoholic. He w ill drink this on all state occasions and public dinners to avoid embarrassment, but in private he docs not even take this substitute. The temperance element of the nation is acclaiming with great joy over this new’ departure of their emperor.
