Our Workers.
We regret to hear that Mrs A. R. Atkinson is seriously ill. Fervent prayers will ascend to the lkrone of Grace, that a speedy restoration to health may U* vouchsafed. LETTER FROM MRS HARRISON LEE. To my White Ribbon Sisters: I elovei> Comrades, Here 1 am in beautiful Ceylon “ Wh**re every And until has learnt**! to smile.’’ We arrived on 15th January, and began to work on the same day. Since then we have had as many as four meetings a day, and pledges and conversions have rejoiced our hearts. The schools of pretty black-eyed, brown-skinned bairnies delight me greitly. 1 have to speak to them through interpreters ; but they are all so gentle, so attentive, and affectionate, it is quite a pleasure One woman in Ceylon is doing a grand work among the railway men. She is a planter’s w ife, a beautiful Christian and the men trust her ami love her as their Good Angel, which indeed she is. The letters she writes, the text cards she sends, the books and papers the men are always receiving, are all indications of
lu*r intense devotion to (Jods work, and her love to the poor, tempted men. We are staying in the bungalow of one of the engine-drivers, who was converted last April, and has not touched drink since. Me is a tine man, hut had been, like so many others, cursed by drink before Mrs (iihbon got hold of him. Miss Beddow a singing is a great attraction at the meetings, and she is enjoying her trip through this lovely island - immensely. My husband joins me on the 1 2th, and we begin our honeymoon trip to the Holy Land. We do not know the date of our return, but will follow the pillar and cloud and seek ever to do “ the thing that plea set h Mod. ” I trust our faithful workers in New Zealand will begin a great pledge-signing crusade in every town and city, and never slacken their efforts till men and women blond their own wills with the will of Mod. Personal abstinence will 1m; tb** best bulwark of Local Option. K\er yours in happy service, Bkssik Harkison Lkk Cowik
