At a meeting of the* Uhristchureh W.U.TU., after a vigorous disctission concerning the Te* Oranga Motile, the following resolutions were passed :—‘ That this Union strongly protests against the inhuman system of punishment practised at the* To Oranga Home as savouring more of barbaric times than the twentieth century. The* Union consielers that in de*graeling and humiliating the* unfortunate* girl inmates, in tlie'ir own e*yes and in the* eyes e»f their companions by Hogging, rutting off the* hair, ce*ll punishment, anel similar brutalities, inealeiilahle harm is ehme in many ways that it is unneeessnrv to enumerate. Such treatment of girls is an insult t<* tin* womanhood of the* colony, and should m»t he* tolerated by New /calami citizens." “That t lie*
