W\nganui Women’s League.—A meeting of this League was held in the Council Chambers last month. An animated discussion on the Women’s Disabilities Bill took place, a numl>er of ladies spt .’king strongly against the civil and do itical disabilities imposed on women. It was resolved to unite with the women in the other tow f ns of New Zealand in presenting a monster petition to Parliament, urging the immediate removal of all disabilities. A strong committee was set up for this purpose. Canterbury Anti-Gambling League. —At a meeting of this League, held on May 12th, Mr Tanner, M.ILR., took the chair. Delegates from a large number of societies and organisations were present. The constitution of the society was drafted, and from it we gather that the crusade against gambling is to be carried on by means of the pulpit, press, platform, schools (Sunday and Day), and the dissemination of literature.
