The Vicar arrived m Wairoa on April 12th, and was instituted by the Rev. D. Ruddock, Bishop's Chaplain, en June 30th. We are all very grateful to the Bishop's Chaplain for undertaking the work of the parish for a week during the Vicar's illness. A very successful entertainment was organised by the ladies oi the parish on June 20th. Songs, recitations, and tableaux formed the chief part of the programme. There was a large atr tendance, and the sum of £15 lis was netted, which will help to pay off the cost of repairs to the Vicarage. The Vicar has only been able to visit Mohaka and TNuhaka among the outlying parts 0./ the parish owing to the bad state of the roads. Waikaremoana will be visited next month, if the roads permit.
We are very much m need of a lay reader m Wairoa to officiate when the Vicar is absent.
