Presentation to Miss Hall
The Awapuni Institute paid their much looked forward to annual visit to Hukarere School, this year with a difference, as it was to say farewell to Miss Hall who is retiring. After having a very sumptuous afternoon tea the girls delighted everybody with their action songs, then the President; Mrs Turner Williams, 'who m a few well chosen words^ asked Miss Hall to accept a small token of their aroha m remembrance of happy meetings spent at Hukarere, wishing her happy years m which to spend her retirement. . . ,
The staff and girls of Hukarere invited several friends to an evening given to say farewell to Miss Hall who retires at the end of the year. The dining-room looked very gay, having been decorated by the girls with beautiful greenery, and flowers. Each form presented a play showing great talent and versatility, also they composed songs suitable to the occasion, both plays and songs caused much laughter and merriment, as always pois and action songs were much enjoyed.
The great moment then arrived, when a cover was removed from a well filled table, Mrs Jonghin on behalf of the staff asked -Miss Hall to accept a dinner and tea service m token of their love, wishing her manyyears m which to enjoy her well earn«d rest. The head prefect on behalf of the School m a very happy speech asked Miss Hall to accept with aroha from them all the many gifts ranging from silver polishing cloth to -electric jug, which they hoped when using would always be reminding of the girls at Hukarere. Miss Hall very feeling replied. Supper was then enjoyed, the rest of the evening was spent m games and dancing and was vt»rought to a very happy close by the singing of "Auld Lang Syrie," and the "National Anthem."
