ST. MATTHEW'S BRANCH.

Preliminary Annual Report, 1937. We opened our Session on the 12th April, and have since then held our weekly meetings (except for five weeks during the Infantile Paralysis Epidemic). The opening service was held m the Chapel, and an address was given by the Rev. K. Liggett, who chose as his subjects, "Preparation" and "Dare to Live Bravely." We extend our sympathy to one of our working Associates (Miss Helen Goertz) and to her relatives on the death of her father. The followint^people have given us interesting t&lks and demonstrations during the Session:— 'Deaconess^Er-aiad: Church Furnishings. Miss Wright: Holidaying m New Zealand. Eileen Taylor: Bandaging. Miss Wright: Talking. On the first Wednesday m the month Deaconess Holmes has taken Bible Study. We observed the world-wide Day of Intercession on the Ist August with Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and a tea at 5.30 p.m., at which there were 42 present. During the Session we have held three Social Evenings, one to which our Mahora sub-branch members came and two as Gift Evenings for two of our Members who were being married. We also held a Snakes-and-Ladders Progressive Evening, to raise funds to purchase an invalid chair that was urgently needed for a Parishioner. We have also held private 500 evenings m aid of our funds. We have made quilts for the relief and winter clothing for children. We have given assistance from our Sick Fund to sick members, and also donations (2) to St. Matthew's Vestry and the Tolaga Bay Mission
