O Holy Spirit, the Comforter, Who with the Father and the Son abidest one God, descend into our . hearts, that while Thou makest intercession for us, we may with full confidence call upon our Father; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. That it may please Thee to bless, guide and protect Thy servant Herbert, our Bishop. We beseech Thee to hear us, Good Lord. That it may please Thee to pour the continual dew of Thy blessing on the Clergy of this Diocese. That it may please Thee to be with our Clergy who have retired, those who are ill, and to comfort and uphold them according to their needs. That it may please Thee to guide and strengthen the Deaconesses m this Diocese and to grant that the Order may increase m the Diocese. That it may please Thee to bless our lay-readers, that they may be strengthened by Thy Holy Spirit. That it may please Thee to inspire our Choirs that they may. sing with the spirit and the understanding. That it may please Thee to bless the Cathedral Chapter and the Standing Committee, that m all their plans they may seek and follow the guidance of Thy Holy Spirit. That it may please Thee to be present with all Parish Vestries, that each member may realise more and more that he is privileged to be one

That it may please Thee to prosper of Thy Stewards, the work of the Diocesan Organiser. That it may please Thee to guide the Maori Mission Workers, and to comfort them m their times of difficulty and loneliness. That it may please Thee to bless abundantly all Social Service Work m this Diocese; and to guide and uphold the Matron and staff of S. Mary's Home, S. Hilda's Home, Abbotsford Home. That it may please Thee to guide our Mothers' Union Diocesan Executive, Diocesan Council and Branch Committees, and to give them an earnest desire to forward the aims of the Mothers' Union.' That it may please Thee to further with Thy Blessing all plans being made for the Meeting of the Dominion Council of the Mothers' Union to be held next month. That it may please Thee to grant Thy Blessing to the Bible Class Unions (boys and girls) that they may be the means of helping the members to be loyal followers of Christ and active members of His Church. That it may please Thee to guide the Executives of the Unions, that all their plans may be m accordance with Thy Will. ■* That it may please Thee to forward with Thy Blessing the work of our Sunday School Organiser. That it may please Thee to inspire our Sunday-school teachers and scholars. • That it may please Thee to help according to their special needs, the organiser, teachers and scholars of our Mail-bag Sunday-school. That it may please Thee to . bless the branches of the C.E.M.S., the G.F.S., and the Matron and girls at the G.F.S. Lodge, Napier. That it may please Thee to bless our Parish Missionary Guilds, that through their efforts a greater zeal for missionary work may grow throughout the Diocese. That it may please Thee to strengthen the Branches of the Fraternity of the Resurrection at Gisborne and Napier.

That it may please Thee to pour Thy Grace upon the principal, staff and scholars of Te Aute College, Hukarere JSchool,- Waerenga-a-hika School and. Hereworth School. For Those Preparing for Confirmation: Strengthen, O Lord, we pray Thee, by Thy Holy Spirit, Thy servants who are now preparing to seek Thy help m the sacred rite of Confirmation; and grant that all they who bear the Cross upon their foreheads may bear it also m their hearts, so that boldly confessing Thee before men, they may be found worthy to be numbered among Thy Saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. For Industrial Problems: O God, Who dost command all hearts, and dost teach the joys of obedience and of self-denial for others' sake, deliver us m this realm and our brethren m other realms, from the dangers, or the presence pi anarchy and social upheaval. Guide the minds of all classes to a fuller realisation of interdependence and brotherhood, and give victory to Thy law of love and consideration between man and man, through Him Who sacrificed Himself for us, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. » For Those m Sorrow: Comfort O Merciful Father, by Thy Word and Holy Spirit, all who are afflicted or distressed, and so turn their hearts unto Thee, that they may serve Thee m truth, and bring forth fruit to Thy glory. Be Thou, O Lord* their succour and defence; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. A Thanksgiving: All praise and glory be to Thee, O GOD, Who hast exalted Thy. Son Jesus Christ to Thy right hand m Heaven. We thank Thee that He has raised our human nature to the glory of Thy Presence, and that He has gone to prepare a place for us. Grant that where He is, thither may we also ascend and reign with Him m glory; through His merits, Who ever liveth to make intercession for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen,
